The global trend of reducing the use of total herbicides has led to increasing demand for mechanical weed control machines, resulting in continuous innovations. The BUSA Bt. has developed its latest inter-row and under-row cultivators to meet the needs of its Hungarian, French, and Austrian partners. The rotary hoe weed control machines have already been successful in keeping the inter-rows of plantations weed-free, and the newly developed under-row cultivators are designed to weed the narrower strips next to the trees.
The company’s patented Rotor becomes the most effective tool for weed control with its high working speed (~15 km/h) and clog-free operation. Regardless of the size of the weeds and the type of soil, it is capable of performing perfectly even on rocky soils.
Surface
The company’s product range includes fixed-mounted rotary hoe weeders for row cultivation, with fixed frames ranging from 1.1 meters working width to hydraulically foldable models up to 6 meters working width. The fixed-frame machines have a hydraulically extendable side version, allowing us to reach under the trees in addition to cultivating the rows. The side-extendable machines are available with a cultivated strip width ranging from 1.1 meters to 2.7 meters.
Orchard strip
The new inter-row cultivators work on strips that are 0.6 meters or 1.1 meters wide. In addition to the simple fixed-frame versions, hydraulically telescoping machines are also available, which can extend up to 2.8 meters to one side from the tractor’s centerline. The double-sided versions are capable of extending 2 metres measured from the centre line of the tractor. A pivoted frame ensures proper surface following.
Is it moving forward? Not backward?
Double-sided telescopic machines can be used on both the front and rear mounts. Single-sided telescopic frames can be used on the front right or rear left.
What about the weeds between the trees?
With the BUSA™ Rotor, you may go as close as 5-10 cm to any particular row. If we accidentally hit the trees with the rotary hoe, the blades will roll down, the machine won’t get stuck, but we might cause minor damage to the trees. Therefore, we recommend using the rubber-fingered ‘Fingerhacke’ additional cultivation element, which protects the trunks of the trees and also removes weeds between the trees.
