Our Rotary Weeder for forestry, codenamed GYMF – FX4, has been around for a while. If not before, the public could admire it at the 2024 agroMASHexpo.

This version of the FX series has only 2-2 rotors and, in its default state, it operates as a quasi-row cultivator, working the seedlings from the right and left as it moves over them. Based on the experiences with previous versions, it can be used with a safety distance of 10-10 cm (20 cm). It safely approaches the seedlings, cutting what comes underneath it, and what doesn’t (the seedling) remains unharmed even at high speeds. In this case, we only cultivate two 0.7m strips next to the row.

New requirement 1.

What if (this is how it usually starts) there was a closing element that we could lift if we wanted to, so it would move over the row as a standard FX, but if we lower it, it would cultivate the entire surface. This trick is good for two things. With a smaller machine, a 3m row can be fully cultivated with two passes. First next to the row, then the remaining space between the rows. The other variation is that if we use a slightly looser setting, 1.8 to 2 meters can be cultivated with the same machine.

New requirement 2.

Stumpy area. A little stumpy is not a problem. But if it’s very stumpy, we make a ‘kangaroo grid’. This is the function of the interesting formation at the front of the rotors. A leading rail, if a large stump comes in front of it, it doesn’t hit it head-on, it lifts the machine, protecting the rotor. (It can withstand a lot, but if it catches a high stump in the middle, it can’t turn out, something will give way.)

And the FX series is not appearing here for the last time, as there are new variations on the design list.
